Is this supposed to be a genuine statement of the growing tensions and looking back at history, or a sarcastic insult of the right? I honestly can’t tell.
I think the point OP is trying to make is that had the soldiers who fought in WW2 known what their country would become, they wouldn't have risked their lives for it.
And I can agree with that assessment. Patton said we fought the wrong enemy. He was right.
