Tangentially related: Upper Echelon Gamers is pretty sensible when it talks about games and otherwise. I've been subscribed to them for at least over half a year, and before the riots, they were already pointing out things like extreme feminism in gaming (a part of me wonders how they would've fared had they existed during GamerGate). Of course, they do games first and foremost and their video essays on games are informative but never too long.
Yeah, I definitely prefer his reporting style over that of someone like YongYea.
Eh, YongYea's also pretty good for me, but I see him as the Tim Pool of game reporting: goes for a read-the-article format while stopping at times to elaborate/air his view. I like that style as well because it feels like a mini-podcast especially when the release schedule is almost daily (so it's like watching the news but it's on a non-TV and it's not something mainstream like CNN... and, hey, it's gaming news!). I've unsubbed from YongYea, but I haven't resubbed only because I'm already subscribed to so many YouTube channels as is.
And YongYea does voice acting, so there's that.
Yeah but at least Tim Pool makes 20 minutes videos over entire articles and not a single tweet like Yong.
And his voice is very grating.
I enjoyed his content before he moved to Los Angeles. I feel after the move he’s had to pump out substandard content to pay the bills. So a lot of times in his videos it just seems like he’s being overly verbose and often times repeats a point he had already previously made.
Huh. Didn't know he moved to L.A., though it sort of makes sense given the voice acting thing. Still, why though? Isn't the point of moving is to move to a place where you'll have an easier time living?
I could be wrong. But prior to moving to LA, he lived with family in Delaware. So rent was probably really cheap. But now he’s living in LA which is one of the most expensive cities to live in. I’m in LA too and my rent for a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment is around $3200+ a month. This is North Hollywood too which is one of the cheaper places to live in. I think Yong is somewhere in Studio City which is dramatically more expensive than where I live. So probably like closer to $4k a month.
people need to stop moving to cities.
Seriously, I own my home for one-tenth the monthly rate in loan payoffs.
I liked him a lot but his doom eternal marauder take lowered my opinion of him a great deal. He whined about the marauder while playing terribly (which, ok it just came out that's fair). But then he trippled down and shit on everyone pointing out how he was wrong.
Made himself look like a bitch and now I think of it whenever I try to watch his videos. Wish he'd just issue a belated apology or something.
The Marauder is not a fun enemy to fight. The zoning to attack is clunky as hell and once you figure out how to bait his axe swing it becomes a boring snoozefest of "stun, punish, repeat" for a few minutes.
Yeah I happen to agree with you and UEG on that one, I watched his review before, I played the game and thought that he was just bad, but then I got to the Marauders myself. The first couple fights with one are fine, but as soon as they become more common, the game gets a little worse. The fights feel like they are forcing the mechanics a bit too much, where it becomes a loop of making sure you stay the exact same distance, while being attacked by other heavy’s and being distracted by random fodder. This only becomes a problem with the Marauder. Marauder fights take away from the game imo, and almost feel like you are playing a completely different genre.
It's not whether or not it's fun to fight though. It was that he was doing everything wrong, and when people pointed that out he shit all over them and acted like an arrogant ass.
Just like the leftists do when they get called out for being full of shit. I wasn't trying to comment on the marauder design itself.
Well, it's Kotaku, so......
history now is a conspiracy, mainly to make people think africans werent loin cloth wearing, mud hut dwellers before whitey educated them.
In the original article, if you read it all the way through, you'll see that the author switches from "Marxist/Boleshevist" to "Jewish" for no apparent reason.
