I agree with you, and I think this is something Styx misses as well. These riots are being supported by the local governments, and the local DAs defend the rioters and prosecute citizens who fight back.
Right now there's a 17 year-old kid that took the advice to "take back your streets" and is now facing first degree murder charges filed by a corrupt DA. Hopefully he isn't found guilty of those charges, but there's a chance he will be; and his life would be effectively over before it hardly had a chance to start. That's a symptom of a far more rotten system than the simplistic analysis of "DNC Civil War" or "A handful of corrupt Dem cities". Where are the Feds to provide "checks and balances" to this corruption? Nowhere to be found. But they'll sure show up if a black person finds a "noose" in a garage, and no one says a word about "Federalism".
That's the BEST case scenario.
People have to realize these overcharging DA's are absolute morons, because they can't prove first degree murder.
If they were smart they'd pick a lesser charge, but instead they virtue signal and try to appear 'tough' then it backfires once it becomes literally impossible to prove.
You want them to overcharge, because that means instead of getting hit with a lower charge he's likely just going to win.
How much of a life do you think he's going to have whenever someone does a background check on him and sees "charged with first degree murder" pop up. Or when someone looks him up online and sees articles that say "far right nazi shoots peaceful protesters".
If he's lucky (people have gotten railroaded by the system before; overcharging is no guarantee he'll get off) he'll get out of this with his liberty intact. That doesn't mean his life returns to normal. His life just became 100x harder. Maybe he thinks it's worth it, but this is something anyone else considering taking the advice to "take back your streets" should know. You will be treated exactly like this by people who will sleep well at night doing this to you.
That's going to happen no matter what he does, the good news is by overcharging him he will now be INNOCENT.
As opposed to GUILTY of a lesser charge.
Always better to be innocent of something worse then guilty of something lesser.
No that doesn't happen "no matter what he does". He could say "the only winning move is not to play" and let the city that apparently wants to destroy itself do so.
