Lord of the Rings really brought New Zealand into the global spotlight in such a huge way. Admittedly, it looks like a phenomenally beautiful country that has breathtaking landscapes, but sadly a lot of the kiwi's that I've met have said they're glad they moved away.
From what I hear, it was moderate up untill 2015 or so. Then like everywhere else it started lurching leftward with staged womens rights rallies and of course their very own glowie op.

They probably don't realize that it's not really a White leftist nature utopian country anymore, but a Chinese colony in its current state where everyone is priced out of having a home in most of the country and has to move to Australia for work.
I have seen so much commentary over the years about how New Zealand is such a promised land of peace and plenty from many who wanted to move there,

I've had kiwis tell me NZ is just moderate without falling into either too far right or too far left. Guess they won't be saying that anymore
