Andy's job is fucking stocking shelves and saying "cleanup on aisle 3" into that headset. Not enforcing the governor's mask policies. If bumwine wants it enforced, why didn't he go directly to the off-duty cop who was there?
Hell if you walked into the store without a shirt I don't think the store manager would be able to do any more than ask you to leave and call the cops if you didn't. And I'm not so sure they'd do even that: the last thing they'd want is a George Floyd type situation in their store over something so mundane.
Having worked at a Kroger sub-brand as a manager some years ago, I can confirm this. All you can do is give stern suggestions, and then call the cops. You have no power and will be fired quickly if you do anything else.
And having to shop there currently, the mask situation is the same. All they can do is hand you a disposable mask and ask if you could wear it, they have zero other power to force it on you. Can't even make you leave, which I abuse regularly.
Yeah I love abusing all the bureaucracy that a decade ago 30-something women were abusing to go shopping with their "purse dogs". And I love that the "purse dog" crowd likely seethes with rage over me abusing that same bureaucracy.
From what some of the people there tell me, they spend more time breaking up older women attacking people over masks then actually enforcing it on people (me being an exception).
Usually for "not being good enough" or "wearing it below nose." Karen's are abusing this situation hardcore and I take some pleasure in making them rage.
I work as a janitor at a place that won't be named and they were giving me extra hours to be the "mask police"
And people are mostly fine but i had these people just fucking sprint past me without them and this guy comes up and goes "you know... i could cost your company 1k for letting them in" And its like ok, the fuck do you want me to do? I can just tell people hey, you need a mask, theyre already in the goddamned store.
He still went in like nothing happened, it feels like these people don't care beyond being tattletales. And nothing even happened, thats the best part, i don't know how the hell they expect to enforce this shit, we've got masks/sanitizer right there.
Christ almighty less hours kind of sucks but i'm glad i'm back to my normal duties and not that trash. I'm just so sick of this shit. It just comes off as so disingenuous. And yeah he was an old guy but he clearly didn't think of it as a problem because he still went in/the reasoning of "I CAN COST YOU MONEY!"

Karen goes to off duty cop, asks if he's been defunded yet, asks for help with enforcing nonsense rules.
Because police are evil
