We won't ever learn how much CNN paid (that lawsuit was for $275M) or the Post, but I hope signing the checks caused them significant anguish.
Apparently today is also his birthday, so he may have been waiting to settle until he was a legal adult (though the reasons why are not immediately clear).
WP is owned by Bezos. That settlement is pocket change.
Anguish is emotional pain, not physical. I hope whoever had to agree to the settlement on behalf of the Post lies awake at night, angry at themselves.
Getting these demons to admit they are wrong is the first step to exorcising them.
Fuck, you're right.
I doubt they think that. They'll probably blame it on male/white privileges and screech as they sign it off.
They'll never admit they're wrong, just like Scientologists won't admit they're in a cult.
Forget Bezos and WaPo. This is a beacon for people. Don't back down and victory is possible. That is more valuable than all the WaPo propaganda.
That's not how rich people think, in my experience. Rich people count money far more carefully than the average joe, and they have a very clear idea of what loses them money, and what makes them money.
There's an idea I've been toying with in my head that is "not everyone can afford to be principled, so those who can afford to be principled ought to do so". I may disagree with the principles being defended, but inasmuch as there are principles being (irrationally) defended, I can respect that.
So let me understand. WP is owned by Bezos and the target audience of WP are the same people who hate Bezos? I expect most who read it are from r/politics and they hate billionaires and Bezos the most, they seem to be OK will Bill Gates somehow. Shouldn't the target audience boycott it? Is this not some weird shit or am I overthinking it.
Kid is never gonna have to work a day in his life. He is just gonna roll from one news outlet to the next claiming 7+ figure checks.
I don't believe in God, and I'm not American, but seeing this happen just warms my cold, dark heart, makes me smile and say "God Bless America".
