Except, even when they went full in "Garrosh is bad, worse than Hitler" they still couldn't make him the bad guy because of their incompetent writing.
He was right to be racist, because literally every ally openly conspired against him and regularly spoke of insubordination. He was right to purge Org, they were literal demons under their feet. And worse, he was possessed by a Sha for the majority of his "warcrimes" which we determined was a justifiable excuse when Taran Zhu was under the same influences.
Its even more amusing that they had him call out Thrall completely correctly in WoD. They actually thought it made Garrosh look childish and wrong, instead of Thrall for thrusting too much power on a man unready.
So its likely they would accidentally end up making "Orange Man Good" if they tried, because they did just as poor a job with Sylvanas.
It amuses me greatly that when they are trying to write a "100% black evil" character, they fuck it up and accidentally make them look extremely justified.
But when they want that "cool grey anti-hero" like Sylvanas, they fuck it up so badly that they have to bend over backwards to make her not responsible for her actions and look good again. And it still only works because of how obsessively people want to fuck her, one of which is the head writer who self inserted as Nathanos for a whole expac and broke the cringe meter.
I stopped with Cata. Do I want to know what feminism did to Sylvanas? I always like her because she was unabashedly evil, but she was on the good side, sorta... client states are complicated. She was MBS.
