But yeah, his reviews were good at least, regardless of his decision to kiss the SJW ring. I like Northernlion's reviews - they're not nearly as high quality as TB's, but they're honest and he covers small games very often as TB did.
He annoyed me too, but please keep in mind the cancer and cancer treatment fucks with your mind a lot. He knew he was going to die soon, he was likely in a great deal of pain from both the cancer and cancer treatment and he was probably on some serious pain meds.
Shoot, the video after his death where Genna mentioned he would sleep with an Ultramarine figure (he was not a fan of the Ultra Smurfs) just so when he woke up he would know he was actually awake should give you an idea of his state of mind.
John Bain was one of the best when it came to PC Game reviews, and even a couple of years after his death nobody else is doing it as well as he did.
I guess. I try not to let people off the hook for reasons like that but cancer really is as good of an excuse as you can have, so maybe you're right.
I still cried when he died, regardless of the things he did late in life.
Oh I get it. Like I said, I was annoyed and disappointed by his attitudes. I just think we should show compassion to somebody who may not have been in his right mind and who was definitely wrestling with the worst part of his life.
The dude had been terminal for the better part of a year before he started bending to SJW's. You're talking about literally the final months of his life.
I don't think it's remotely fair to judge the man by his state of mind at that point.

Seriously. I only Ascended a couple of years ago, and playing through Dishonored on PC today, checking some graphical settings, it hit me why this guy was so beloved and why he mattered; PC ports could really fucking suck.
I used to think he was just being uncharitable, or whining (and there were definitely times he was doing both), but the guy really was looking out for his audience. That's all I wanted to say, really.
... Unless y'all know of someone who picked up the gig of checking PC port quality?
