Reminder that China has never won a ground war.
They got their assholes embiggen'd so hard by a fractured Vietnam they had to change their tactics to subtle takeovers and deceptions.
If China pushes India too much they're going to get their asses rocked again.
I don't want to see it, but I am curious how a massive global war with China as a primary military power would go.
I have a feeling that they'd get rocked early on by more battle-hardened nations, like the US and Russia, especially the former who has a military who has been in a constant state of conflict for about 20 years now.
I also don't think they'd be invadable (at least without power armor, 'natch), but they'd likely also have a hell of a time projecting any power out to their immediate neighbors without swift retaliation.
The US is even still the dominant naval power within their own oceanic reach, so there's no way they'd own the sea lanes either.
Like you said, their power lies more in subversion and spycraft than direct conflict.
The PLA actually had a skirmish with Indians on their northern border about a week ago now. They loopholed a peace treaty (the wording was that "no bullet may be fired", so they beat the Indian soldiers with barbed wire bats and nail guns) and so they retaliated (Inkeeping with the peace treaty, Indians bashed their fucking skulls and ripped our their spinal cords.) and won the skirmish 60:1 with only 20 of IN's guys dead.
Here's to hoping that the conflict with India might put the hurt on China. I highly doubt that HK will not lose it's original deal with China (aka get fucked over and join mainland), but some sort of pushback against China is welcome.
As has been said here and elsewhere, let’s trade the population of some of the US’s cities for Hong Kong.
Seattle would be perfect.
Dang, nice job india. Has any other government made a formal statement on HK yet?
Good job India! Thank you for doing the needful!
I really wish it was the USA doing this with India. People of HK need help.
