I don’t relate to any of these girl bosses. They’re insufferable. And their physicality and capability and heroics don’t reflect what I see from women in the real world. It was one thing when every tenth action protagonist was a woman beating up dudes twice her size. It was a novelty, a little harmless subversion. Now? AAA gaming is mostly women crushing men.
Meanwhile, the audience is still 90% male. What other industry is like this? Who else looks at their customer base and says “fuck all these people, we’re gonna focus on a completely different group”?
