Disgusting. Seriously. This is the sort of crap that needs to stop. It’s very hard to believe that these 75k-ish level jobs require skills so unique, and so obscure that they are having to bring in people from out of the country to fill them.
What they’re doing is probably what all the other companies that abuse H1b’s are doing: they list ridiculous requirements, list a low ball salary for a person that has those requirements, people don’t apply because the salary isn’t good enough, this then allows the company to report, “see! We can’t find people for this job!”, and then they go get an Indian that is willing to do it for that salary. The problem isn’t that they can’t find people to fill the position, it’s that they don’t want to pay the going market rate that people with these skills are worth.
It’s pure, and utter bullshit. If Trump doesn’t overrule these clowns on this (Elon isn’t all bad, but fuck his stupid ass on this), he’s really setting himself up to be a massive disappointment.
He’s in full meltdown, people have now found Tesla is cutting market rate by ~25% using H-1B visas.
