As a devout follower of Christ, the way he worded that statement does make a key point of grouping Superman and Christ on the “fake character” side.
I would 1000% question any of my friends if they said that immediately, let alone a representative for whom I have no respect. Dan is a cuck and lost his eye in a tragic gloryhole accident in Afghanistan and I’ll never be convinced otherwise- and this is something Dan can’t question me on.
It's not just kids, but how most bad people react when anyone confronts them about their false beliefs, inadequacies, sins, or hypocrisies. They immediately become vitriolic and confrontational, lashing out at the person who told them the truth, as if they were physically assaulted. This is usually why having a good debate (logical, honest, civil, and prioritizing truth above all else) with someone who holds a false belief is nearly impossible, because people cling to those beliefs like an anchor, often doubling down on their own stupidity. I wish it wasn't so, but it's been the lion's share of my experience on the subject, personally having debates and observing others debate.
However, you are correct that for someone to react that way toward a kid, speaks less favorably toward that person, and highlights further their defensiveness of their sins.
Dan Crenshaw is an Israel first, America last "conservative". He's a judeo-Christian, meaning he's not a Christian.
I'm sure there are many right wingers in government and in corporate positions who are pushing globohomo purely for the monetary gain (i.e. campaign contributions, AIPAC handlers, bribes, DEI/ESG funding from Blackrock and Vanguard, money laundering, cheaper labor from open borders, etc.), even knowing how truly evil it is. I guess, in some regards, that could be categorized under "grifting". But, I prefer to just call it greed, or mammonism, the prioritization of money above all else, even one's own people. That mindset is prevalent across the entirety of the mainstream right, who are civic nationalists who care nothing what happens to White people so long as the GDP and stock market go up.
However, there are absolutely zealotous Israel supporting right wingers, who have been fed nothing but lies and propaganda with "judeo-Christianity", "Israel is our greatest ally", the Holocaust, WW2, Nazis = evil, "antisemitism is the worst evil ever", "jews are God's chosen people", dispensationalism, etc. People who still believe in these lies actively and ardently support Israel. I should know. I used to be one of them, and looking back, I couldn't ever tell you why, except that's what I'd been told. Pretty much all mainstream right wing media pushes this position as well. To find any information, arguments, media, or people contrary to that position, you have to venture to actual free speech sites, to the dissident right (not MAGA), and the people that have been censored off of every platform, left and right.
Crenshaw could very well be a greedy bastard, and also genuinely support Israel. At the end of the day, it doesn't make much difference, because it all results in the same thing.
Think of it like an army. How could you conceivably tell the genuinely fervent supporters of the war they're engaging in, to the blokes who just wanted a free ride to college, or those who were drafted? Does it really matter? To get to the general, the leaders, the ones calling the shots and pulling the strings, you'll have to make it through the army, and each individual foot soldier, regardless of their individual beliefs and motivations. They're all shooting at you. They're all a threat, from the pawn to the king.

Nobody just jumps to immediately trying to intimidate a kid like that, unless you're a rat that's trying to shut them up ASAP before you're exposed.

Do you really think he actually supports Isreal? More likely its a grift, and just to garner support, and claim "youre bad" if you call him out.
