The Ukrainians are involved in a war for their soul, according to the media, but sent major military assets to another country, for a war that won't effect them or help them in anyway? Sounds fishy to me.

Not exactly a huge amount of support here.

It also weakens Russia, or at least that's what I'd guess they believe.
