Should be interesting depending on how "ai-based" it's going to be. AI art is pretty good already but games created entirely by AI are ... well ... first year programming assignment level at best from what I've seen.
He's probably just going to be using it for more efficient development.
Let me give you an example of where AI can be made to create efficient development via Spacebourne 2. As far as I can tell, the game is good but meh. It is almost exclusively built using AI building assets and code at the direction of a single developer. A game like this, without AI, is nearly impossible for it to be built by a single developer in under 10 years.
Most of what the developer seems to be doing is cleaning up the AI work and fixing bugs/incompatibility issues. If you get a team of, lets say, 30 devs to help streamline the code. Even maybe instructing the AI to help streamline the architecture and testing of a game, you're going to save years of work. You always need humans to deal with the finishing touches on everything, even voicework, but that's fine if all you did was save several million dollars.
I don't want something like Chat GPT trying to develop games (I've seen people try to use that for code, and it replicates raw code well, but it doesn't do it in a "clean" manner, and it's logic is normally confusing at best. If you instruct it to build objects and classes in code to preform expected functions in certain layers as you require them to be created within your policies, then it's going to save a ton of time, and reduce errors.
By no means am I an "AI is going to kill humanity" type of guy, but there is a use-case for it.
Honestly I get the impression Spacebourne 2 only looks decent because nowadays the average AAA game is so incredibly bad.
It looks like a game from 4 or 5 years ago, but I'm not really concerned about games with the "most" graphics nowadays.
Visually yes but the gameplay seems be pretty underwhelming too. Compared to Starfield it doesn't look bad but Starfield is shit. Compared with the 21 year old Freelancer it doesn't look good.
