Apparently need over 50% votes to get the position. All the democrats would toe the party line and vote "no" because he's qualified for the job, and some republicans had already openly stated they wouldn't support him, perhaps because of that time he walked through the halls of Congress with some reporters and pointed to those neocons' doors and mentioned facts about their stock portfolios that strongly hinted of insider trading.
why would they need to hide insider trading? it's legal for them! ( and only them )
It's not legal for them, the law just isn't enforced unless they piss in someone's Cheerios. If someone like Gaetz were to do it they'd fry his ass.
It's legal for them to trade provided they file the forms. They have insider info about all kinds of things and things that would affect the general economy.
Wikipedia says insider trading laws lack specific definitions. The executive is afraid to make cases against legislators except in the most dire of cases (corruption) because they are afraid of separation of powers.
