Liberals really don't want to think about it, but part of the reason the US had little issue overall rolling up on the various natives is because they were busying fighting and killing one another. And they had no issue whatsoever using all the latest and greatest technology to get revenge on past grievances.
Hell that's how the British took control easily, they found the ones that wanted to trade and get them furs, armed that lot and they in turn used the new firepower to wipe out or take over other tribes.
With Americans it was another story as they wanted to colonise EVERYTHING so they were in the way.
