Am I the only one who gets severely judgemental over Oxford commas? Maybe I read way too far into it, but I feel it's a microcosm for people who do what feels and seems right vs people who just do it how they were taught because it is also technically not incorrect.
I think people who favor Oxford commas (like myself) tend to have more analytical personalities. Oxford commas undoubtedly help to avoid ambiguity in certain situations, whereas the argument for not using them usually appeals to aesthetics — they want to avoid using too much punctuation because they feel it clutters their writing.
Judgemental over people who use them, or people who don't use them? Your comment is ambiguous like a sentence missing an Oxford comma. Ironic.
Nah, that's just a good ol' original O-G comma needed there; it is(n't) linking two sentences, not a list.
“Like a”
It was a comparison.
Given the context of the comment I was responding to it wasn't that ambiguous, but over not using them.
The problem with the context is that the comment you replied to was obviously judgemental in favor of them, yet you asked "if you are the only one..." which would imply you are on the other side.
I figured you were trying to agree, but your phrasing was indeed ambiguous. I just thought it was funny, given the subject.
Nah, while it seems Kienan much prefers them, a simple "use it bitches" doesn't exactly amount to being "extremely judgemental" to the point of making conclusions about someone's personality over it. But whatever, agree to disagree. Seems everyone else could figure it out.
