In 2016, when it was headed by since-ousted leader Jeff Zucker, it was the most watched network overall - a distinction that's now held by Fox News.
At the time, CNN had averaged 13.3million viewers in primetime. Today, it's only around 800,000.
Holy shit. I knew it was bad, but never would have guessed it is that bad. That's such a drop that I have a hard time believing that 13.3 million stat.
Regardless, CNN offers nothing of value. So I say fire them all, implode the building, and salt the earth where it stood.
The News Networks have become increasingly online in their offerings. Why would anyone watch something on a television (that few people still have or pay for) with a strict time schedule when they could watch the exact same thing on Youtube from the literal official channel whenever they have time for free?
Like, this isn't just a "cable news is dying" thing. Its also a "news orgs have adapted to the times vaguely so their old method isn't the only option available."
Well once its on Youtube its going to get spread across all the various social media from there. A lot of which are not going to add to the view count on Youtube itself.
That's the point. Its not centralized in an easy to measure number anymore. Its disseminating across a lot of channels and reaching people in all sorts of ways.
Which makes it far more subtle in how it propagandizes people, but also a shit ton harder for the suits at the top to count their money like they used to.

Except none of them get shit for views on youtube. Their viewers are just gone.
