If we take the right to approximately represent the politics of tradition, then collectivism is right at home in it. Get in the phalanx or get skewered alone on the battlefield.
No, you can't just arbitrarily decide what things mean. Words and phrases have meaning, and right and left are not random nebulous "whatever I want it to be when it's convenient". Go read history. Right wing is explicitly individualist / anti-state. Left wing is collectivist / statist.
