Vibe is different than in 2016, because they didn't do the "he has a 5% chance of winning" thing like 2016. I wasn't a supporter then, but I liked what he represented; and I laughed and cheered when he won.
Watching all the worst people weep and gnash their teeth remains satisfying.
Not a complete analog, but I do find this very reminiscent of 2016 so far, actually. Let's fucking go.
The best way to put it is I think we had the higher energy of 2016, but there was a focus on that energy. Trump's campaign team KNEW what exactly what they were doing in 2024, there was a method to their madness and they addressed several key issues.
He spent less time attacking the other side (and he still did of course) and spent more time telling us what he'll do for us and ignoring all the crap the other side gave.
Not just that, but the other side staging a coup on their OWN GUY probably pissed off a lot of Democrat voters.
I'd agree. 2016 was all hypes no brakes.
I don't even know how seriously half the people pumping up the Pede train were taking it.
It was all memes, guts, and glory.
Which is I think why so much changed, because that election showed A. The lid wasn't quite as tight as it seemed, and B. What I regarded the whole thing as kind of a joke, there was a huge swath of people who wanted me dead for feeling that way.
So now I know TPTB aren't infallible, AND they hate me for laughing.....
So yeah this time is different
Yep, this year they cleaned it up. Focused on running a real campaign, ignored what the other side bitched about and just campaigned all day, every fucking day.
And it worked. Our weaponized autism worked.
