combat medics are usually accompanied by a guy with a machine gun willing to commit war crimes if you touch HIS medic.

For some reason TF2 medic is showing up in my mind, haha

That actually isn't far off, since the medic can save all your lives in and after a fight and also help with things like hangovers, there's a known rule that if you shoot at doc, expect to hear the thump of a grenade launcher repeatedly fired at your direction..
