Which is the gaming industry's fault, Stevy. Try non-predatory monetizing of games built for gamers by gamers, Stevy. Try prioritizing fun, competitiveness and immersion over shouting at your audiences with a faux moral bullhorn, Stevy. If it were that way now, the majority of gamers would be lining up to buy Blizzard's next big game. The majority of gamers would be praising Ubisoft's string of hit releases probably.
And if you really want to make story-based games that have us reflect on our belief systems, then there are plenty of existing games and movies that can teach you how to do it effectively.
1000% this. They’ve taken their audience, their REAL target market for granted for the better part of a decade now. Fucking around with woke this and DEI that and appealing to anyone other than their audience. It would be like Tampax trying to sell a range of monster trucks. Where the fuck is the basic marketing-101, where’s the common sense?

And even after all the flaming collapses these past few years, there’s basically no one in the industry even remotely capable of a little introspection and honesty to be like, “yeah okay, maybe we fucked up. Maybe we need to dial this shit down a bit…”

Endemion the other day had a Ubisoft dev tell him that the next assassin game (Hexe) features satanism and lesbian witches with literally no male characters whatsoever. The team apparently acknowledged that players will hate it but said they were still gonna make it anyway.
Nevermind how bold it is of them to assume they’ll still exist after Shadows tanks, they STILL haven’t learnt anything from their failures. The arrogance and sheer fucking leftist hubris is off the charts, not just with Ubisoft but with Sucker Punch and their upcoming activist Lesbian Simulator, as well as Sony itself with their $799 driverless consoles.
The entire industry is a bunch of sanctimonious, high and mighty narcissists who see themselves as the arbiters of morality. THAT and nothing else is why their (former) audience is rooting for them to crash and burn. And they can fuck off with their “vocal minority” bullshit too, if that were true they wouldn’t be haemorrhaging hundreds of millions a year
