Well, uh, that's horrifying. I guess I missed that bit of lore. How common is this?
I remember watching a Japanese show where they invited fatties from around the world to lose weight by changing to the Japanese diet, one of guests was a black woman who can't stop eating corn starch. this was almost 10 years ago, so it has to be very common
Isn't it because blacks have some sort of deficiency and that's why they crave starch? Like any of the numerous other genetic differences between the races. Lactose intolerance, south-east Asians getting drunk quicker because they're missing an enzyme, native Americans being predisposed to alcoholism etc.
Iron deficiency causing a desire to eat clay or powdery substances.
