Much of the misinformation emerged from popular misconceptions concerning ground-penetrating radar (GPR)—the technology that had been put forward as providing definitive evidence of the graves’ existence. Credulous reporters seem to have been unaware that GPR landscape surveys do not directly indicate graves, much less bodies or skeletons.
They weren't unaware. They were eager to mislead the people.
But the original "mass graves" site in Kamloops was purposely never excavated & exhumed intentionally by the band leadership for the express purpose of keeping the hoax intact by never testing their claims.
The MeToo "mass grave" copycat discoveries on other reserves that followed the original hoax were the ones that were excavated and turned up nothing.
iirc? Other "searches" turned up some animal bones. Some were on sites that were already documented as having graves, just that the wooden headstones had burned away decades ago. One site yielded some adult bones that were at least 300+ years old & not an actual 'grave' site.
Millions $$$ spent, no results = liberalism!
We had the remains of an old apple orchard, parts of an old wall.
The only one that turned up any "remains" was the one that was known to locals and just a graveyard that had fallen into disrepair due to neglect. The wooden markers had rotted away, and it wasn't a "mass grave".

I didn't read the article.
