Right, but that won't update your wordcount as a fraction of 50K, with the percentage next to it automatically... which is why I think the function could be used as bait to scrape data. The NaNoWriMo forums being what they are, exploitation of their userbase would be consistent with the level of pozz present.
In Times New Roman 11 point font, a page is 500 words, approximately. You don't really need more info than that, your work of writing should finish when it is supposed to, not when it hits some arbitrary number.
To be fair, NaNoWriMo is specifically a challenge about time and word count. It's one of the few scenarios where, yes, word count is important. But, yeah...no need to use their official counter, as that's silly and unnecessary.
