Possibly hot take, soulslike games got old a long time ago. This one at least feels better to play (combat is more fluid, and not clunky), but on the back end, it's just the same miserable experience for me. It's why I didn't spend a ton of time on them in the first place.
I find the souls-light games more fun. That style of combat with interesting bosses and set save points I think are great for exploration/combat games, but the intense difficulty of actual soulslike games is just not enjoyable. That style in an easier package is way more enjoyable.
It's not even difficulty. It's arbitrary animations and timings that require study and memorization of each enemy and boss. It's dumb and not at all intuitive.
I saw a YouTube video that captured it well. The boss readies the attack, then starts dancing in twenty seconds of feints. That is the essence of souls like games and it's retarded.

Yep, a lot of rote memorization.
Basically, it's like playing old NES games, but with better graphics.
