The fat fuck will never finish his series. He wrote himself in a corner and has no idea how to give it a satisfying conclusion, especially considering the fan backlash to the ending of the HBO tv show. He's too proud to admit that he doesn't have the skills to do so, and doesn't want to be alive to see a better writer tie all his loose ends into a cohesive whole. He'd rather leave all of his three-decade long fans in the dark than see someone else steal his thunder.
Probably also the pressure. The longer it takes, the higher the expectations are. Not only that, but he's finally had a taste of the good life and he no longer needs to finish it for an income.
Could also be a contractual obligation to HBO. As long as HBO is producing new GOT related shows, he's unable to release the final book.
Definitely not that last one. Pretty sure they only started filming and releasing the HBO show when they did, because they expected that by the point they'd reach season 7 or 8, all the books would be out. Not to mention that the 5th book came out after the first season was released.

Funny thing is that if they didn't rush Daenerys' descent into madness the fans might of taken it a bit better. And not have the night king die to Arya after building up the confrontation with John Snow. And not had Jaime completely reverse all the character development he had in the later seasons by going back to his sister...
Not to mention Varys and Littlefinger turning into pathetic morons the moment they ran out of canon content for them. The perfect example of writers being incapable of writing characters smarter than themselves.

You know what, nevermind.

Half Life 3 and it's remake a decade later will come out before Winds of Winter makes it to his editor.
... but you're going to have to wait for it. :') Dude is a meme at this point.
Probably not enough trenders, lesbians and BLM cosplayers.
He ain't going to do anything but watch Jet games for the next several months.
He's been training the AI for 6 months now
