Amish community aside, the expectation that everyone has to have a smart phone to function in society is disgusting. In the short span of roughly 15 years we have destroyed our sense of autonomy, freedom, privacy, and so much more.
I bought a Motorola Droid A853 shortly after it was released. I thought it was a very cool, helpful little device. At the time it was still pretty niche, something you didn't need but useful. My younger self could never have imagined the horror these things would bring.
The smart phone and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
Flip phones are still an option for those of us who care to seek them out thankfully, but I agree that they've done immense damage to the general populace. If I could erase one technology forever it would be the smart phone.
It would not surprise me in the least if the mark of the beast turns out to be some type of smartphone that is implemented under the skin. They are already trying to make us use phones to do anything financial. Go shopping do it with the store app. Banking? There's an app for that. Paycheck? I haven't gotten a paper check stub in a decade. Only online.

As the phones get smarter, the people get dumber.

I choose not to own a smart phone and it’s annoying how many things I’m finding myself locked out of participating in.
