I'm going full autistic on those movies but from what little I could get of the 'lore' it's also completely implausible, any system like that would fall apart in five seconds because even if you had the military go full lockdown on the area given that there's nothing illegal about owning guns and stockpiling weapons generally bottling something like that up would be far more catastrophic to the wider area. Seemed like a very leftist worldview on the human condition really where they think humans will simply turn on each other without law and order.
It was also retarded that it assumed people would magically be law abiding citizens again the next day. Oh, my neighbor broke into my house and murdered by children, guess I have to wait until next year to get revenge.
Also never understood why, in the first one, that masked gang spent all night harassing ONE locked down house. Why not skip the hard target and go find something a bit easier?
To me the whole purge movie idea was meant to be some kind of typical horror flick so it's less about any kind of coherent story and more about shock value and it's something designed to frighten state worshipping retards. By the way, there was a similar style of movie called civil war if you remember which was being plugged and I think that's the same sort of thing.
No, don't go trying to pay attention to the plot, you're supposed to be shitting bricks over a completely implausible scenario because you see the country falling apart around you. The joke is as well the movie wasn't nearly as controversial as it could be because they deliberately didn't identify either side so they pussied out on any politically charged commentary.
The best horror type thing I found really even though I don't like horror all that much was frankly Halo and yes weird for me to bring up perhaps. However the flood did a really good job of having a plausible story and scenario behind them which made it an utterly terrifying concept especially when you take into account there could be a real microorganism out there that could potentially evolve into something like that which we don't know about.
