DIE is one of the reasons. Your options get very limited if you apply DIE, same as in corporations.
The other is campaign funds, they wanted to keep the Biden / Harries campaign money. This seems very very fishy to me.
The third is that at the end of the day it does not matter, politics is so polarized that is all about brand recognition and teams. Vote D so that you belong to the good guys mentality. We are so polarized that there are no center/ undecided voters. All that matters for them is rally the base to vote and print the rest.
I believe they couldn't run someone else other than Harris and keep the campaign money. Not that they couldn't try that, but the big ticket donors would get pretty upset.
I don't know the specifics, but I think it works because you're specifically donating to the Biden-Harris Campaign, not just Biden or the Presidential Candidate.
