As per the title, are there any feature or TV length productions from 2019 to the present that you think are diamonds in the rough? Any that truly put good writing and characterization first and don't have any woke gender or anti-populism/Republican nonsense?
If they do have any political leanings, are they at least not so preachy or heavy handed about it?
I think the discussions on this site about the overwhelming proliferation of heavily left leaning politics in pop culture are compelling.
However, I thought it would be cool to highlight the gems that break free of that nonsense and bring the depth and creativity back to these mediums.
It'd be nice to show people examples of good works out there so that they know they're not alone in just wanting good entertainment and know that it's still possible. Even if said works don't quite have mainstream popularity.
So I'd love to see what examples of good TV shows or movies free of wokeness or are at least not overly political you can think of.
I haven't and will not watch the Fallout show. What did they do to the Brotherhood of Steel? I'm almost afraid to ask
I haven't watched the show either to be fair I'm mainly bothered by how people are interpreting what's going on in the Fallout universe. What I was most bothered by was this article I saw posted up on Overclockers by a literal cat lady who tried to dumb down and misrepresent the BOS as a stereotypical good guy knightly order and that pissed me off to no end because their lore is much more complex than that.
I have watched it so can tell you:
The BoS are shown as strict by the code knights but when they are actually 'in the field' they falter either running away from monsters, getting one shot in power Armour by a 'convenient' Armour flaw to literally harming themselves so they don't need to go out in field missions.
It's Fallout 4's BoS but worse, the better versions were either 3's for the divide between Lyon's and outcasts or NV with their one just trying to survive.
Yeah what a load of crap, I'm not even surprised they shat all over the lore, even Fallout 4 had proper reference to the Elder Lyons dispute with headquarters even if it was only mentioned in passing. It looks like they're dumbing down the lore for the sake of making it simpler for the average audience to understand not realising that like with Skyrim one of the main reasons it got so many fans was because of the complex world building.
One thing I liked quite a bit in Elder Scrolls for example was a lot of the hidden stuff and the deadra worship as well as the lore behind the gods themselves. Any questlines involving it and I was all over that.
I'm actually getting reinvested more into Fallout thanks to the finally released Fallout London Mod.
That mod just seems to shit on what Bethesda can make, thankfully it doesn't look like it turned into another Fallout Frontier and console players are only mad THEY can't play it too.
