It sounded like the shooter took several aimed shots, and then he either started dumping rounds, or was being fired upon.
There's footage that is alleged to be the shooter, limp, being hauled away by troopers. Seems like fire was indeed returned, much to the shooter's detriment.
EDIT: That was not the shooter. That was likely either the dead or critically wounded crowd member. Shooter was a sniper on a roof, apparently hundreds of yards away. Still killed though, by all accounts.
God, that'll be a hell of a dangerous shot too. He probably would have fired from the crowd. Terrifying chance of over-penetration.
If initial reports are to be believed, he did kill someone (likely in the crowd), and then got killed himself.
Also, doubt he cared about overpenetration, if he had managed to shoot Trump directly.
There's so many people there I wouldn't be surprised if he hit multiple people in the crowd.
As for overpenetration, I meant the cops shooting back at him.
Yeah, according to TD, two dead, including the shooter, who was - based on initial reports (not sure how he was identified so quickly, I'll take it with a grain of salt - antifa.
EDIT: Antifa shit sounds fake. Sniper on the roof is legit, though, it seems. Hundreds of yards, potentially. Basically a headshot (unless it was shrapnel.) At first my thought was lunatic in the crowd with a pistol. Now I'm thinking more botched or unlucky professional job. This may have been legit deep state nonsense.
What is it with people and using guns (which they obviously don't have much experience with) in assassination attempts? Weren't the IRA able to terrify every politician with bombs? Every shooter seems to fail (except for the Japanese guy a few years back).
I don't know, this seemed relatively competent so far. It's much too early to say for sure but, as far as attempted assassinations go, this one was actually pretty well executed. Literally an inch or two and it would have succeeded. Seems to be from a couple hundred yards out at least, too. And Trump did turn his head right as the shot that hit him was fired.
Speaking purely on competence, this was much stronger than our usual fare.
I didn't think about that. This is getting crazier by the minute, I wonder how the media will spin this as more information comes out.
