there might have been a few swarthy looking people knocking around Europe in 1066

That is one thing I hate. Someone from Italy, Spain or Greece would have been considered dark skinned to the English but we are jumping straight for sub-saharan africans. What happened to think horses not zebras?

Well zebras come from Africa, therefore we must replace horses with zebras.
