The difference a day makes, I swear this drama has escalated quick in TWO days, he's put out a full tweet of it, I don't have X so someone else link it as I ain't making an account to that hellscape for this.
TLDR, he DID talk to a minor (hard on what age as that could be a 15 year old in the states but they live in France) back in 2017 but NO pictures were sent, NEVER met and it says it sometimes was inappropriate talk but that could've been the average gamer talk. Now he was banned in 2020 so they sat on this for 3 YEARS but Twitch settled a lawsuit he had with them and there was NO criminal charges at all for him.
So after the studio he founded kicked him out and a sponsor dropped him, other than be an idiot talking to a minor this is a nothing burger. It speaks WORSE on Twitch that they couldn't vet their internal messager given that Disrespect doesn't state if he KNEW at the time they were a minor and dropped talking to them when they found out.
And also speaks ill on all those saying "We knew about this for years" what that he was a fucking idiot for a basic mistake (why I mute everyone unless they're friends) or dod you think he was a pedo but sat on this waiting for blood in the water as that's even more disgusting.
True but he said he didn't know. Don't interact with females and strangers on the internet period is a good rule too.
Honestly how ARE you supposed to know someone isn't even lying? "okay I need to see your ID to talk to you" yea, pretty much stops right there and never talking to females on the net seems reasonable. I'm also almost certain the "inappropriate" stuff being talked about was probably usual banter one would expect from someone like him.
Used to be a smaller youtuber myself when I was like maybe 18-20, had people in general want to talk to me but I never went through with that as I was socially awkward. Was probably for the better.
Hell, even if a girl lies about her age and uses a fake adult ID then the guy is STILL fucked.
Can't lie man. I used to absolutely card women under the age of 30 if I talked to them for a while or started getting somewhere, both online or real life. Like most things with women, you have to say it with flippance and confidence. Its easy to even spin into a compliment about how young they look.
If you aren't willing to make that conversation, then absolutely the only other one is never talking to them and I don't fault anyone for making that choice.
Last year when I moved into my new apartment two girls knocked on my door and gave me a drawing, they looked to be about 12. I asked them their names and thanked them very much. It seemed to me it was just a kind gesture by some innocent kids.
But if I started talking to them regularly because of them initiating that contact with me, when they are outside and playing around the area, it could put me in a very bad spot legally. It's really such a shame that society prohibits us from being nice to each other.
I make it a point to only greet them and say hello, although I always put in more effort to sound cheerful when it is them that I greet, since the world is so bleak already.
