There are already a bunch of stores I can't order from online (in Canada) because of visa's two-factor authentication. It requires you receive a code on your smartphone to authorize your order, and I don't have one.
I'd sooner freeze to death homeless than participate in this mark of the beast system, though I suppose that's what they want of the non-compliant anyway.

Meanwhile the EU already mandates all online stores based in the EU to implement 2FA on their payments(and almost every merchant has implemented 3D Secure).

Visa/Mastercard's 3D secure implementation only provides a gateway to the bank's systems(or at least that's how it works for me, I get shown my bank's landing page where i'm asked for credentials/confirmation within the app), how a transaction is confirmed is up to each bank. My bank(it's an EU one) has a fallback on SMS+a password you set with the bank in case you don't have their app.

Sometimes the Skype phone number works for this. You can buy a number for a year and use it for things like that, without needing a smartphone. Just use your PC to login and check for messages and other stuff like that. Of course, the downside is that you have to give money to Microsoft for the number.
