You were told this was a good thing™, that you were a good person™ for accepting it.
It was never a good thing, you were never a good person for accepting it.
At one point it was carefully curated to ensure only the best face was put on it. Now, like OP says, it's totally out of hand.
Diversity isn't strength, it's a side effect of meritocracy. If you want the best you'll need to take the highly skilled from every culture. This is manageable if they're a minority, but if you bring in every dingbat and schitzo diversity is a massive detriment to society.
The melting pot was a good analogy. You want chilli, you don't want a bowl full of onions picked out of the chilli.
