Institutional infiltration, the money (especially since it's drying up) isn't the main factor, you have people that ALWAYS need to insert politics in the higher positions of authority in Amazon
You need to look at it from the perspective of an executive.
In decades prior, they added unnecessary romances to every single action movie just because they thought it would add an entire extra demographic of young women to watch a movie otherwise 100% oriented to men. Same with random nudity to most older movies, to just hook young men into seeing anything.
Even if DEI wasn't outright giving them free money from Blackrock type companies, its a loud request and part of what people constantly claim to want. An executive would absolutely hear that and think "we already own the fans, let's tap into the second market and double our sales!!"
A fan's dollar is still a dollar no matter how hyped he is. But an exec sees a fan whose dollar is guaranteed and a possible second and third dollar from a black and a woman by shoving those in there. The politics just give them a good cover for what is blatant exploitation.
Not that they don't believe in it most of the time, but its why its such a deep rooted problem. Because its built off an already existing flaw in these Companies' thinking.
This is the mindset that has killed more franchises than I can count. The owners take for granted that they don't own the fans of a series and don't care that changing things can chase the old fans away. They go all in on a "new audience" and when the new audience fails to materialize and the old audience abandons the new garbage, it inevitably dies.
It also doesn't help that these companies have replace their real talent with useful idiots that 100% believe their own BS. They don't have anyone willing to make stuff for the old fans, much less anyone capable of it.
Is DEI money really worth more than providing what the fans want and get them more hyped for your product?
It's not about the money but the message. In this case, we're dealing with zealots.
And you have to ask yourself, is anything more important to a zealot than their ideology?
We're seeing in real time that even their lives aren't worth more than the message, as plenty of Leftists have put themselves in harm's way to literally die to support the DEI agenda. We're not dealing with rational people, but fanatical radicals with an absurd amount of cultural influence due to their control over the media.
