I know I ranted about it recently, so apologies for the repetition but...holy crap. Another victim of "YouTuber Syndrome."
I've seen some of her stuff pop up here and elsewhere before. It's never really been my thing, but it's also never rubbed me the wrong way before, unlike what it's doing right now. This is sooooooo fucking artificial it hurts. She's also clearly reading off a script, which just adds to the unnatural look. Painful as fuck to listen to. Her intonation and emphasis is all over the fucking place, and it's obnoxious.
I'll give her at least the benefit of the doubt and say she might be passionate about these issues...but this is just fucking view farming. The content is - sadly - irrelevant. The delivery mechanism is bland and obnoxious enough that the actual message gets dropped by the wayside.
She also pays shills on reddit to post her videos. KIA2 had a guy whose only contributions were to post her videos, with no further comments, and then go back to posting exclusively in Portuguese on Brazilian subs.
I don't know if he is still at it, but back when I still posted there he was doing it at least a few times a week.
She's been around for ages, so hardly a new grifter, but yeah.
It's funny, I'm rather conflicted. I like people putting out this viewpoint, and I'm not inherently against 'grifters'...but at least execute well. I don't care if you're left or right, grifter or completely genuine, if you adopt some annoying 'web' persona for 'the algorithm' or whatever, you're going to annoy me. Just do your thing; stop trying to ape other people or what you think people want.
A lot of people shit on GG in hindsight, but I still think it was good, even if some of those people were grifters. I think such a cultural shift is still a good and necessary thing, even if some of the people involved aren't actually purists. I want people to reward people for putting this kind of thing out but, again, do it well.
I haven't gotten around to it yet, sadly, but I think I'll have a bit more time coming up soon, and hope to dive into some of the basics myself, at least. Hoping to start my programming journey more seriously soon, but so many other things to take up my time/energy too.
I have never really cared for her stuff either, frankly.
