The classics are good but the series is already tainted... That's like playing mass effect 1&2 when you know 3 and beyond are going to be pozzed
Sony could've just rebooted the series but they deliberately choose to re-write Kratos instead
And to me it pretty much killed the franchise... Sometimes its better for a franchise to end while the going is good (God of war 3) than to see it become another interactive movie soy franchise
Seconded; Achilles: Legends Untold is an amazingly good game.
If you want a masculine game with zero faggotry (did all of the side-quests and the game is safe), and focuses on a hero that is actually a hero without being undermined by feminist traits or globohomo storytelling, then Achilles: Legends Untold is well worth a buy.
Also, huge props to the devs for making a proper combat system with parry, dodge, roll and blocks -- and actually having a proper blocking system that is extremely useful. Too many games like taking the Dark Souls route where blocking still takes a large chunk of your life, but in Achilles: Legends Untold it can actually absorb all the damage (depending on the shield and how upgraded it is).
Had a ton of fun playing it and it's one of the few games where you don't actually want it to end.
Its a shame the game was pretty short (only 3 acts, each taking about a few hours to complete)
But doing a 100% run of the game will likely take you around 16-20 hours max, i did all the challenge rifts, all the side quests and collected and upgraded a decent arsenal of weapons
My biggest gripe with the game is how beating Paris on the prologue doesn't change the story, you just get a rare achievement and the game begins the same way, also no special reward for beating the game deathless (which is what i accomplished on my first run)
But what can you expect from a small Polish team, hopefully their next game is going to be bigger, better and with alternate endings for those purists who seek the ultimate challenge (like in dark souls 2 where doing a deathless run nets you a pretty good ring for PvP)
Its mega gay, just like the first
If you want a decent mythology game try out the Achilles game
Or the old God of War games. Not really all that historically accurate, but ridiculously fun and zero woke degeneracy.

Yup the devs knew what they were doing
