Red October is not a bad book to start with. Sum of all Fears will piss you off if you saw the Ben Afleck movie adaptation.
I heard that. In the book it’s Muslim terrorists and not Russian right? Was Clancy in the military or did he just have very good contacts for Military info?
In the book it is an Iranian who is dying of cancer, and wants to ignite a nuclear holocaust. Clancy never served, he was just very good at research. Red October was the first book he wrote, and lots of people questioned where he got his info, but apparently it was all open sourced.
He was very good at military fiction so I always assumed either he served or came from a military family
Clancy did know people in the military, but everything he wrote (to my knowledge) was either public knowledge, or based on using his brain to think about things and plan it out.
Sum of all fears is a great book.
