Are stores allowed to open on Good Friday, where you are..? Because they largely aren’t/haven’t been allowed to open here, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you view it), in my lifetime…
Which is rather odd, given how… Most corporates/media seem to be largely ignoring that it is Easter at all, and the sportsball is still on, but yeah, places just… Aren’t allowed to open, still.
Even in fully compromised shitholes like Melbourne and Canberra…
Yeah, churches are open here, but supermarkets and the like aren't allowed to open at all...
10 years ago, almost literally no store at all was allowed to open today. Most restricted trading hours of the entire year.
Also no professional televised sport. But that part, at least, has changed now.
Honestly though, I kind of like it. Gives the day more of a "sacred" feeling, and really, if you haven't done your shopping to an adequate level to be able to go one day without it, eh, I guess that's on you.
Very weird wandering around the city in the middle of the day with literally nothing open though, I will say, lol...
But yeah, I guess unfettered capital won that battle in the US, as it is increasingly doing here, too.
We didn't have professional sport on Christmas day at all, until about three years ago, when fucking basketball insisted that if the NBA can have games, then the NBL has to be able to, as well.
And then cricket (our main summer sport, traditionally) followed suit, and then cinemas insisted on opening, and then... You get the idea.
Too bad if you're a player/staff member who actually wants to spend that day with family, I guess...
Though double time (pay) and a half is compensation, to some extent, obviously.
It’s my plan for tomorrow, a fresh fish fry is usually the best, but haven’t seen any decent ones by me for tomorrow.

I couldn’t speak for Australia, but I’m in Midwest America and even the churches usually will do fish fries on Good Friday.

Good Friday has no restrictions in America whatsoever.
Stores in my state have reduced hours for Easter Sunday. Other than that they don't do much.
