I was watching the Dennis the Menace show from the early 60s on Prime and noticed that it was rated PG13. I was curious as to how this could possible be rated PG13 and it said alcohol use, language, and smoking. That isn’t as crazy as a modern day/gen z warning I saw for Leave it to Beaver that mentioned that “it had outdated norms and it shows all white people”. In the 50s, white people made up over 90 percent of the country so the Cleaver family “reflected the world around them”. Heck, even today a traditional white nuclear family is a much better reflection of an American family than what Hollywood reflects which is some lgbt heavy neighborhood in California or NY.

Language on Dennis the Menace...Great Scott. That's the worse thing Mr. Wilson says.
The use of this type of language is highly problematic due to it implying that Scots are great. The fact is that Scots have never been great, aren't currently great, and will only ever be great if they accept diversity into their society.
I know! Also Dennis commented on people’s weight by calling them fat. The horror!
There was an episode with a chinese girl and someone might have called her oriental. Which they tell me is a slur, but I don't get how.
Its because they don't recognize that Occident is a word that exists as the description polar from Oriental, so they assume it can only be racist made up slurs.
Same way that Jap is a slur because abbreviations aren't real, and coon is one because raccoons don't exist.
Yep, it's a completely benign etymology. The sun rises in the east, so the east of the Eurasian land mass is the Orient.
And there was a black tv repairman that got into an argument with Mr Wilson because he didn’t agree to the price he was charging. How dare Mr Wilson not recognize his privilege
