The spending habits of the government is breaking Canadians.
I spend according to my own bill, about 35 dollars in natural gas to keep a modest house at 68 degrees in the winter.
Carbon tax is 28 dollars. Delivery to the house is 12 dollars, gas storage fees are 40 dollars, other assorted bullshit fees and tax on top of that is 29 dollars.
So I used 35 dollars of fuel, but the bill is 144. I know you're thinking, wow, your house must have zero insulation, or bad siding/roof/windows. They're all new thanks to a tornado back in 2019. Less than 5 years old.
I am so glad I only have the one thing that needs natural gas, and that I don't keep the house very warm. Everything else is electric, and I'm thinking of a small wood stove, centrally located next year so I can use the heating as an emergency if I have to, and a wood stove for the rest of it.
The carbon tax is killing people's wallets.

They'll ban wood stoves next.
Already done in several cities.
