You can objectively classify political ideology by one scale - control. The extreme right is anarchist. Extreme left is authoritarian. No right wing movement has ever been authoritarian and no authoritarian movement has ever been right wing.
I mean, that is how you want to classify things, sure. To me there's an extreme difference between a National Socialist and a Marxism though even if you might consider them equivalent given your scale. I also think there's a huge difference between liberaltarians that are racist and sexist compared to libertarians that are egalitarian.

Nationalism does not swing authoritarian leftists right wing. The chicoms are, and soviets were, also nationalist. The german nazis were a hard left authoritarian government. Strong centralized government power and collectivist ideologies are left wing. Nationalism is not an element tied to either wing, it is a relative cultural element that is used to strengthen a nation of any type by intelligent leaders.
