Looking at the world today, can anyone name anything which is wildly popular among teenage girls which is actually good for society (or even neutral, honestly)? Because it seems like "teenage girls made it popular" is a pretty good reason to default to hating something.
The Hunger Games was a YA novel, was it popular with girls? I would not argue it's good for society, but sometimes I think the movie was a good prediction of future America, perhaps after a failed second revolution. Wealthy cities occupied by an aloof, degenerate elite and the Rainbow Reich, ruling over poor rural people who have a completely different culture. I guess that's a pretty common trope though.
