Has the hinted plot device of 'zombies are slowly deteriorating and won't be able to move after a certain point' come up, or did they abandon that as it would prevent the show from shambling on forever?
They abandoned it and decided to add at the last minute variant walkers, which I thought was stupid because they decided to do it too late (season 11). Variant walkers are walkers but more advanced as they can climb and run. It's clear they are milking the shit out of this show with multiple spin offs. Spin offs galore.

Didn't they add a zombie that has acid blood?
They just need to add a smoker, a boomer, and a jockey to make it interesting again. Maybe also a tank zombie for a season finale.
