No slanted rocket. No damn tea. No abused wife. No sexy lady decal. No cigarette to ignite his dynamite. No dragons. Not even a spear. His personality seems to be "generic nice guy" now, he doesn't even swear. This isn't Cid Highwind, this is an Ifalna/Aerith simp.
Also the part in the OG FF7 in the scene where Cloud gives Sephiroth the black materia, Cloud beating up Aerith has been removed as well. Cloud beating up Aerith showed how brainwashed by Sephiroth he was but let's remove that . (Hey that sounds similar to Resident evil 4 remake removing the scene with the brainwashed Leon strangling Ada)
And of course the wokes are defending all this censorship, because fiction can't be fiction anymore, a character can't have personality traits they don't like anymore and we can't see anything bad happen to DA FEMALE either . In the OG game, Cid was abusive to his wife but he grew out of it and learnt to appreciate her when she saved his life, but all that character development is gone now
The sad thing is this will be totally overshadowed by the Tifa stuff, which while an annoying change is nowhere near as damaging to the story as this. There's no narrative excuse. The only arguments the shills can fall back on are "It's just a game bro" or "you still have the original to play".
Honestly I was still planning to play the remakes when they were all done in 10 years or so but upon hearing this news they're dead to me now.
Their narrative excuse would be that the remake and rebirth games are technically sequels and there's multiple timelines bullshit and Sephiroth messing with the past.. But this shouldn't have changed Cid's core backstory or core personality (that was changed for obvious political correctness reasons) so that argument would be a stupid shill argument .And i thought we still have those whispers to stop major changes to the timeline
Only because they haven't figured out how to break in and steal my original set of discs. All the digital downloaded versions will be patched in short order. The history books were all rewritten in real time in this rendition of 1984.
