It makes me mad how much better it is than anything released within the past five years. Even the worst parts of it, Electra talking, are better than anything recent just because she is smoking hot.
Karen is an actually good female character with flaws and growth. Catholicism is depicted positively. No faggots in your face, no shoehorned lectures about race.
If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it, but pirate because despite making this show netflix doesn't deserve any money.
It's one of the rare times where I agree with the general public on liking a particular show. The Wilson Fisk actor is incredible and I also think it does a surprisingly realistic take on how modern corruption in society actually works to the degree I'm surprised that the creators themselves didn't get Epsteined for it. Too many shows and movies do the government corruption storyline and it's often silly propaganda with 'military/government officials always the good guys, they beat up private contractors' type deal. Or it's one person up top being 'evil' and the good guys are just following orders then realise towards the end.
The 'good guys' mostly being too scared to make a move for fear of being exposed or simply killed off themselves and other people making calculated decisions in the moment to switch sides for the sake of self-preservation or so their families don't get hurt too is one of the more realistic aspects of the storytelling.
