Humans do this a lot, sadly, either intentionally through weakness, or by accident. Maybe it's due to lack of promoting critical thinking in upbringing, or just the mind reaching for the id and superego first, ego second.
Too much energy and focus is spent on the "what", "where", and "when"; not the "how"s and subsequent "why"s
We do it because looking upstream inevitably points towards uncomfortable and unpopular truths about genetics, IQ, etc. If you dig deep enough, you end up discovering immutable realities that are incompatible with polite society.
