I'm sure with the gathering of autists that there is on alt-tech I'm not the only one who's had this realisation. Some of us have it worse than others but I thought it would be amusing to compare notes, how vegan and leftist infested is your circle or are you surrounded by normies who hate life? What massively sets you apart in terms of your hobbies and general habits? I realised one of the things that sets me apart from even the normies is just what I even think about day to day and it's why I can't gel with them at all even though we're not at each other's throats and everything.
. I don't watch television or listen to the radio ( That's a big one )
. I enjoy red meat
. I like cooking ( For some reason people seem to really hate it depending )
. I like driving ( Again, people view this as a chore and I don't, they don't seem to regard using a vehicle as anything vaguely enjoyable )
. I exercise regularly and recognise I should probably be doing a bit more so I have some self-awareness on my own health
It's not even necessarily about politics but isn't it fucking weird how ideology has now become a thing when it comes to certain hobbies because leftists especially are that against it? I am of course thinking about how eating red meat and exercise and the leftist weirdos out there are trying to declare that far right.
Another thing I'm doing which is financially realistic for me is getting a 50cc moped to buzz around in which yes is silly but very practical for someone like me. Car insurance is going to be unaffordable or a total drain on finances for what it is in the UK so I'm seriously considering it and reviewing potential travel plans so I'm not as much of an anti-social fuck this year and onward.
Depends on what you mean.
If you're talking my childhood best friends, we're like a band of brothers. We share the same viewpoints, generally same interests, and beliefs, and its great.
If you're talking locally... eh, I'm someone who recently moved (last 2 and a half years) to a new place. I've got a few friends (only 1 of whom I'd call fairly close) and people are generally friendly, but I'm still pretty different from people here. For example, I'm much more of a nerd than most around here. People here are obsessed with football. I can tolerate watching football, but if given a choice between watching a football game or a football movie, I'd rather choose the movie. I also have somewhat different beliefs than the people around here. I can get along with people well enough, but I'm kinda living reclusively here I'll admit. People here also love things like guns, hunting, etc. Lots of active outdoor life, whereas I'm more an indoor person myself.
All things considered, its okay. I wouldn't call myself a "black sheep" per se, but its probably close enough to that that its noticeable I suppose. It could be worse though. It doesn't help that I'm naturally introverted and lazy, I should be working harder to make connections, but I'm reticent about that sort of thing, and I'm very slow to trust people.
Football obsessed hunters and gun lovers sounds like Western PA to me but I won't try to dox you any further than that :)
lulz I mean good for him really, I don't know if I want to meet with my childhood friends again, we'd get along initially but I'd be terrified of how unbelievably woke they'd have gotten. Why do I think this? Because I know some of the areas some of them have been hanging out in.
